Both apples are delicious and being the Honeycrisp apples are known for being so juicy, I only needed to use four of them in this recipe for the perfect amount of juices. One thing about this cobbler is I’ve divided up the apples into two different types, Honeycrisp apples and Granny Smith apples. The juices in this cobbler recipe tastes so delicious and then mixed with the fruit and crunchy topping, seriously, so good. This apple cobbler has the perfect amount of spice, is loaded with delicious apple slices, super juicy and has a crunchy topping making for one amazing cobbler recipe, made with both Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples. Blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, mixed berries, strawberry rhubarb, you name it!Īpple cobbler is best served fresh and warm, but leftovers will also keep in an airtight container in the fridge for 4-5 days or in the freezer for up to 6 months. You could also use a different fruit in this recipe. You sure can! If you want to switch thing up, try my peach cobbler recipe or this slow cooker cherry cobbler recipe! To easily peel apples simply wash, dry, then remove with peel with a sharp knife or vegetable peeler. The peel can become chewy when baked adding a weird texture to the dessert. Yes! Although leaving the peel on is technically fine, I highly recommend peeling the apples. They’re too soft and will become mushy when baked. I don’t recommend using the soft and sweet varieties like Red Delicious. If Granny Smith apples aren’t your thing, other crisp varieties like Honeycrisp or Golden Delicious would work as well. Plus, their crisp and firm texture holds up nicely next to the ooey-gooeyness of the filling. The tart flavor contrasts perfectly with the warm, sweetness of the other ingredients. I highly recommend using Granny Smith apples.
